Kitchen Faucets
A faucet upgrade is the single highest-impact kitchen DIY per yen spent.
Removing or relocating a gas range or gas piping requires a licensed gas fitter. DIY Dad called in contractors on two separate visits for this stage.
What to leave to professionals: all piping from the main gas shutoff forward, and disconnecting the gas range. Typical cost: u00a510,000u2013u00a530,000. m(_ _)m
Key Points for Disassembling the Ventilation Fan
Disassembly procedure for a propeller-type kitchen ventilation fan:
- Step 1: Turn the circuit breaker OFF (non-negotiable!)
- Step 2: Remove the nut holding the propeller (may be reverse-threaded)
- Step 3: Pull the propeller out
- Step 4: Remove the cover and filter
- Step 5: Unscrew and remove the casing (4u20136 screws)
The propeller nut may be reverse-threaded (loosens clockwise). DIY Dad spent 30 minutes on exactly this. (lol) u0669( u141b )u0648

Kitchen Backsplash Tile Kits
A tiled backsplash protects the wall and dramatically upgrades the kitchen appearance.
For years of built-up cooking grease, baking soda + hot water is the most effective solution.
DIY Dad’s cleaning recipe:
- Fill a large bucket with water above 80u00b0C
- Dissolve 3u20135 tablespoons of baking soda
- Soak fan parts for 30u201360 minutes
- Scrub with an old toothbrush and sponge
- Rinse thoroughly under running water
- Allow to dry completely before reassembling
Final Check and Functional Test
After cleaning, the parts must be completely dry before reassembly. Test all fan modes after reinstallation. Unusual noise means the propeller needs to be reseated. m(_ _)m
As a Landlord: Ventilation Fan Condition Is the First Thing Tenants Check
A grease-caked fan dramatically lowers the overall impression of a property during showings. DIY Dad cleans the fan after every tenant turnover. ^ ^

The Actual Indoor Gas Pipe Removal Work
Hi there u2014 DIY Dad here. ^ ^ Continuing with the 1F kitchen renovation. The outdoor gas piping has been handled. Now for the indoor section.
The indoor gas pipe terminates at the main shutoff valve under the gas range.

A new 200V outlet is planned at this location for an IH induction cooktop. The hole left by the gas pipe will be reused as a conduit for the wiring. So the indoor gas pipe needs to come out completely u2014 down to the wall face.

Just one more step u2014 turning the pipe to the right angle u2014 and we’re done. ^ ^ Everything was going smoothly… until there was a sharp crack from DIY Dad’s hand. u03a3(uffe3u3002uffe3uff89)uff89 Gripped a little too hard. (uffe3u25c7uffe3;) The water pump pliers snapped. uff3f|uffe3|u25cb

u2191 The broken water pump pliers.
And we were so close to the end. These pliers were bought specifically for this plumbing and gas piping work u2014 they’re basically brand new. They’re the self-adjusting type: the jaw automatically sizes to whatever you’re gripping. The mechanism might be why the body looks a bit spindly. DIY Dad’s grip strength is around 50 kg u2014 pretty average. These things shouldn’t snap. If they break that easily, they’re not fit for purpose. So DIY Dad figures: maybe it’s defective. It’s worth asking the store about an exchange. ^ ^
The only task left is to redirect the pipe end. With the pliers broken, it’s time for brute force.

With this, the house has no gas equipment left at all. No induction cooktop yet, but the home has gone all-electric. ^ ^
That’s it for today! (^^)/~~~
