The Actual Gas Cylinder and Outdoor Pipe Removal Work

Hi there u2014 DIY Dad here. ^ ^ Continuing with the 1F kitchen renovation. Next up: removing the propane gas cylinder and all related piping. Tool used: water pump pliers.

The details of gas work are beyond DIY Dad’s expertise, but one thing is certain u2014 gas is dangerous. Handle it wrong and you’re looking at a serious accident. :;(u2229u00b4ufe4f`u2229);: This is almost certainly not something you can DIY legally. Time to call the propane gas company and arrange for the cylinder to be collected.

DIY Dad had assumed the gas company would collect the cylinder for free. Wrong. There was a removal fee: u00a53,400. (u00ac_u00ac) The gas company picks up the cylinder, regulator, and meter u2014 but leaves the piping and supports attached to the wall. With the cylinder gone, there’s no more gas flowing. DIY Dad’s turn. u0669( u141b )u0648

Now to remove the remaining outdoor gas pipe. Use the water pump pliers to disassemble as much as possible. Once it’s taken apart down to just outside the exterior wall, cap the end securely. Leaving an open pipe is an invitation for bugs to get inside u2014 and that would mean trouble with the family. (>_<) DIY Dad proceeds with extreme care on this point. ^^;

With the cylinder gone, the space opens right up. Much cleaner. ^ ^

With the gas cylinder out of the way, there’s actually a decent amount of usable space on the back-door side. Once the move is done, there’s potential to put this area to good use. ^ ^

That’s it for today! (^^)/~~~
