Washlet Toilet Seats (Bidet)
A washlet seat is the single upgrade that impresses every tenant in Japan.
The most demanding phase of the toilet renovation. Once the wainscoting is finished, it’s on to setting the new toilet bowl u2014 and at that point the end is clearly in sight. ^ ^

Toilet Repair Kits
Keep a repair kit stocked u2014 toilet calls come without warning at midnight.
Hi, this is DIY Dad. ^ ^ I have a slight hangover today. Drinking at social events never ends well u2014 I get home and reach for a glass anyway. I know it’s a bad habit, and yet here we are. (Sighs.) Anyway.
Continuing the first-floor toilet renovation u2014 following on from the wainscoting panels, now it’s time to attach the cap rail (the trim strip that runs along the top edge). ^ ^

The other corner. The angle is slightly off and there’s a small gap u2014 that’s about the limit of DIY Dad’s skill level. Actually, I’d say it looks pretty good overall! A little imperfection is part of the DIY charm.

Close-up of the end. The pairing with the diatomite plaster looks great! The goal is a “European bistro toilet” vibe u2014 and this is attempt number three at that vision.
The wall finish is complete! (^_^)v
A Note on the Fastening Method
Normally wainscoting panels are attached with construction adhesive or double-sided tape. DIY Dad used only blind nails (nails whose heads fold down to become hidden after driving). The reason: if a panel ever needs to be replaced in the future u2014 boys love to bounce around, after all u2014 it can be removed and swapped out easily without having to deal with adhesive. ^ ^
ud83dudebd Thinking About a Toilet Renovation?
Even just replacing the toilet bowl makes a dramatic difference to the feel of the room. Upgrading to a modern toilet with a built-in washlet is a change DIY Dad has applied to every property in his portfolio. ^ ^
