Kitchen Faucets

A faucet upgrade is the single highest-impact kitchen DIY per yen spent.

Kitchen tiles and wall joints accumulate old, degraded silicon caulk over the years. Removing it and applying fresh caulk dramatically improves both waterproofing and appearance.

Tools: liquid caulk remover, or a utility knife combined with a caulk-removal scraper. Apply the liquid type, wait 30 minutes to an hour for it to soften, then peel away.

Replacing the Single-Handle Mixer Faucet

Swapping a kitchen faucet is well within DIY reach. The two key points: shut the supply valves firmly, and confirm the hole diameter matches between old and new faucets.

Standard Deck-Mount Single-Lever Faucet Swap

  • u2460 Close the hot and cold shut-off valves under the sink
  • u2461 Undo the nut holding the old faucet
  • u2462 Disconnect the supply hoses
  • u2463 Drop the new faucet through the mounting hole
  • u2464 Tighten the mounting nut
  • u2465 Reconnect the supply hoses
  • u2466 Open the valves and check for leaks

A new faucet changes the whole feel of a kitchen. Simply upgrading to a single-lever mixer gives the space a functional, modern look. ^ ^
